Witches’ Brew

I’m currently playing through Vigil’s Darksiders published by THQ.  The engaging storyline follows War, one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse on a quest to figure out why the end times were brought forth prematurely.   I’m having a blast playing through the game so far.  The art direction is wonderful, I’ve been a longtime fan of Joe Madureira art ever since his run on Battle Chasers and he hasn’t lost his touch.  Moving from area to area I can’t help noticing that something feels a little too familiar with the setup of the game.  Hints of Zelda, God of War and Panzer Dragoon awaken this feeling of deja vu.  Not in a bad way…actually the game feels like a greatest hits of past game mechanics wrapped in an crispy apocalyptic shell.  Look no further if a dark version of Zelda is what you’re craving.  I highly recommend this title and I can’t wait to finish the game.

If you’re playing through the game, let me know what you think.

We Are ODST

I was sitting on the fence about purchasing HALO ODST.  I think this trailer has pushed me over the edge…I love Bungie’s marketing campaigns.

If they can pull this off where’s the HALO movie?

Mac Tablet on the way?

Rumor has it that Apple Computer will be releasing a new 9″ or 10″ tablet computer at the end of this year or early next year.  I’m very excited for the new tablet but what space will this new product fill?…keyboard free netbook?…HD Media player?…the biggest cell phone since Lethal Weapon?  Who knows?  As an Apple fanatic I will be in line launch day.  What are your thoughts?

Alice in Wonderland

The trailer for Burton’s adaptation of Through the Looking Glass slipped onto the web last week.  I’m always impressed with Burton’s visual style and his intense attention to detail.  I skipped Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and was really upset with Planet of the Apes but I’m willing to give this one a try.  Another Disney 3D movie…does everything have to be in this format?

TRON Legacy Trailer

Slick new TRON Concept
Slick new TRON Concept

I hope the rest of the movie lives up to this trailer for newly renamed TRON Legacy.  This is the one movie where a 3D treatment will be necessary.  I love the updated look of the Environments, Characters and the Light Cycles.  I’m a little sketchy on the young Flynn’s face I can’t tell if it’s intentionally distorted behind the helmet or it’s still a work in progress. Anyway 2010 can’t get here fast enough, and there is finally a non-Pixar Disney movie to get excited about.   Perhaps the reason for my excitement is the rumor that this is one of Pixar’s secret projects, I hope that they have more input than the 3D graphics.  Please make this sequel one of the good ones.

Amazing CO-OP game

Amazing CO-OP game

I decided to bring along a new boardgame to my parents Fourth of July party.  I wanted to try something a little less cut throat and more cooperative so I decided on Pandemic from Z-Man Games.  I wrangled my brother and his wife into a game and we ended up losing our first try.  We were able to find cures for 2 of the four viruses but a massive black strain epidemic managed to chain react so bad that it used every last block.  When that happened I wasn’t too sure how everyone else would react.  But the silence was quickly broken with my bother threating to kick the game’s ass.  We quickly reset the board and ended up curing all the strains on our second go.  It was really great to work along with everyone, being able to share a victory or defeat really made this gaming experience shine.  I’m sure that Pandemic will be one that I will be bringing back again and again.
